Tilburg University, specifically the department of Information Management at the Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TisEM), has a long-standing collaboration with the University of Luxembourg. In addition, there is the Tilburg Institute for Law and Technology (TILT) which conducts research on the interface between law and technology.
Together with the University of Luxembourg, the University of Bologna, and the University of Turin, Tilburg University is partner in the International Doctorate in “Law, Science, and Technology” (LAST-JD).
Researchers at TISEM who collaborate wit the University of Luxembourg, in particular Joris Hulstijn and Hans Weigand, are specialized in Information Management and the application of Artificial Intelligence techniques in business and law. Specifically, they work on application of various forms of automated auditing and compliance monitoring. In both cases the main question is: how to assess compliance to rules and regulations on the basis of evidence, which is collected and processed by information systems? Another application area lies in the field of data protection. Which architectures can ensure accountability over what happens with a subject’s data?
